PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus which can correctly and easily judge degradation of a light source. SOLUTION: There are provided as means for measuring an output time a clock generator 61 for generating reference clocks, a controller 62 for controlling the whole of a measuring instrument and a counter 63 for counting reference clocks. There are provided as means for measuring an output level a reference level generator 64 for outputting a reference voltage, a comparator 65 for comparing an MO with the reference level and a level detector 66 for judging the output level from outputs of the comparator 65. Moreover, there are provided an arithmetic unit 67 for obtaining a product of the output time and the output level obtained from the counter 63 and the level detector 66 and calculating a quantity of light emitted from an LD 30, and a memory 68 for storing the arithmetic result. Contents stored in the memory 68 are sent to a reuse-judging means 69 set separately from an LD use state-measuring device.
