PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of crosstalk among respective nozzles in an ink jet recording head, especially to reduce variation of ejection quantity due to difference in the influence of crosstalk caused by difference of ejection timing. SOLUTION: When a plurality of nozzles of a recording head are divided into blocks of specified number of nozzles and then these blocks are driven while sharing the time, i.e., when the ejection heaters of nozzles in each block are driven at different timings, pulse width of pulses being applied to the ejection heaters is differentiated from block to block. Since the ejection energy can be varied depending on the extent of influence of crosstalk associated with driving of other block upon the nozzle, variation of ejection quantity due to crosstalk can be suppressed.
