PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet winding shaft allowing the smooth attachment and detachment of a core, capable of surely retaining the core concentrically with a shaft body, and hardly causing a rotating shaking even in a long one. SOLUTION: A plurality of recessed surfaces 11 gradually lowered in the rotating direction are formed on the circumference of the shaft body 2 at required angle intervals around the axial center. A plurality of retaining rings 5 are rotatably fitted adjacently to the circumference of the shaft body 2, and a rotating body 3 is put in each of a plurality of pockets 12 provided on the retaining rings 5 retained on the recessed surface so that the rotating body 3 is partially protruded from the circumferential surface of each retaining ring 5. The retaining rings 5 are connected integrally rotatably by fitting a protruding part 13 provided on one of the mutually opposed end surfaces of the adjacent retaining rings 5 and 5 to a recessed part 14 provided on the other. The retaining rings 5 are retained in prescribed positions on the shaft body 2 by a positioning means arranged on the shaft body 2 so as to nip a series of the retaining rings 5.
