PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily, efficiently and industrial by produce a sulfonyl imide (sulfonimide) compound expressed by general formula (I) MN (SO2Rf1) (SO2Rf2) at low cost. SOLUTION: The object compound is produced by reacting at least one kind of sulfonyl halide expressed by general formula (II) RfSO2X with anhydrous ammonia or an ammonium salt and a fluorine compound expressed by general formula (III) (X is F or CI among the halogen elements of the group VIIb of the periodic table; M is Li, Na, K or Cs among the alkali metals of the group Ia; Rf1 and Rf2 are each same of different straight or branched-chain compound selected from a 1-12C fluoroalkyl, a perfluoroalkyl, a fluorallyl or a fluoroalkenyl; and Rf is same as Rf1 or Rf2 of the general formula (I)).
