PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clamp a rod having an arbitrary diameter with a position of center axis kept fixed. SOLUTION: This rod clamp device comprises a right and left pair of clamp arms 45 having clamp pieces 8, 9 on an upper end part and cam grooves 11, 12 on a lower part to be pivoted rotatably on a bracket 1 and a clamp guide 7 provided with a clamp piece 10 on an upper end part and supported vertically movably by a cylinder 6 fixed on the bracket 1. The clamp arms 4, 5 and the clamp guide 7 are linked by guide pins 13, 14 movably along the cam grooves 11, 12. The cam grooves 11, 12 are formed so that the clamp piece 10 of the clamp guide and the right and left clamp pieces 8, 9 reach simultaneously an outer circumferential face of the rod having an arbitrary diameter with keeping the position of center axis fixed by an upward move of the clamp guide 7.
