PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To thermally decompose flammable solid waste such as general waste having high moisture content or fluctuating in moisture content in a stable condition. SOLUTION: This thermal decomposition furnace is constituted of a thermal decomposition furnace main body 2, a cyclone 3 for capturing a fluidizing medium b in the thermal decomposition gas c discharged from the main body 2, a rubbish drying hopper 4 for storing the medium b captured by the cyclone 3 and a transferring means 5 for transferring the medium b and flammable solid waste d stored in the hopper 4 to the main body 2. Heated air e is supplied to a uniform-circulation fluidized bed part 7 provided in the main body 2 and the hopper 4 so that the moisture content of the waste d in the hopper 4 is reduced and the fluidizing media a, b in the part 7 are fluidized.
