<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary atomizing type coating apparatus suitable for applying a coating having viscosity larger than that of a metallic coating. SOLUTION: The rotary atomizing type coating apparatus 10 has the rotary atomizing head 14 disposed at the leading end of a hollow shaft 12 to spray a coating from the front surface thereof, an air jet orifice for ejecting shaping air for deflecting the coating particles finely divided by the rotary atomizing head 14 in the direction going toward the axis of the hollow shaft and an air guide 16 having a guide surface 16a for guiding the shaping air ejected from the air jet orifice toward the rotary atomizing head 14. The guide surface 16a and the rotary atomizing head 14 are arranged so that the tangential line TL at the leading end of the guide surface 16a in the cross section along the axis of the hollow shaft does not cross a coating discharge end edge 12 forming the maximum diameter in the rotary atomizing head 14.</p> |
