PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a proper constitution pattern even if a plurality of constitution patterns of image data of dots based on the number of pixels participated in printing are present. SOLUTION: In a method for forming image data setting a constitution pattern of optically readable dots in order to print the dots, the number of pixels participated in printing in the constitution pattern is determined in consideration of the thickness degree of dots at the time of printing and, further, a constitution pattern becoming minimum in the dispersion of pixels constituting the dots is set to uniquely determine the constitution pattern of dots optimum to printing.
