The invention relates to a method for diagnosing cancerous diseases and/or neuro-degenerative pathological conditions. According to said method, proteins with domains rich in glutaminic acid/arginine or asparaginic acid/arginine, (ER proteins or DR proteins), are determined. The concept of determining ER or DR proteins is also suitable for investigating the transcription activity, the differentiation stage and/or the cell cycle stage of a cell and for testing therapeutically active substances. The invention also relates to useful products for use in said methods.
