PURPOSE:To improve the capacity of a non-aqueous electrolytic secondary battery which uses a spinel type lithium-manganese oxide as the positive electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:Lithium-manganese oxide whose specific surface area (S) ranges as S<=0.5m<2>/g is used together with a conduction aid substance such as carbon, and they are solidified on an electricity collector consisting of a metal so that an active material layer is formed, wherein the density (d) of the active material layer ranges as 2.85<=d<=3.2g/cc. This enables increasing the capacity by approx. 10% of the conventional value. Normally a lithium-manganese oxide having a small specific surface area is synthesized at a high temp. (over 850 deg.C), but it is of importance that lithium-manganese oxide having good characteristics should be synthesized at a temp. under 800 deg.C. To manufacture lithium-manganese oxide meeting the requirement of specific surface area at a temp. under 800 deg.C, the starting material for synthetization should favorably be a manganese oxide whose specific surface area ranges as s<=10m<2>/g. |
