PURPOSE:To provide inexpensive potassium titanate whisker excellent as a reinforcing material. CONSTITUTION:The objective potassium titanate whisker is potassium titanate whisker having a layer structure comprising K2O.6TiO2.nH2O and K2O.9 TiO2.nH2O and has X-ray diffraction lines at about 10.3-10.7 deg. (2theta) and about 11.1-11.5 deg. (2theta) at 0.05-0.3 ratio of the intensity of the former to that of the latter and >=0.6 molar ratio of Al2O3/Nb2O5 content of the aluminum and niobium as impurities. Furthermore, the objective composite material comprises the potassium titanate whisker and a thermoplastic resin. |
