TONE SCALE PROCESSING BASED ON IMAGE CHANGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that can configure a tone scale curve depending on an image and having a shape not predetermined by using the image activity to assign an output dynamic range to a tone scale range in an input image value. SOLUTION: A method for generating a tone scale curve depending on an image includes a step (a) where the image activity histogram with respect to an input image value is calculated as a function of the number of adjacent pixels having a prescribed amount of an image change except a prescribed noise change and a step (b) where the tone scale curve depending on the image is configured from the image activity histogram. The image change may include an image value within two specified intervals demarkated by a noise threshold and a changed threshold.
