PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the decreased floating quantity by accompanying the drop of an atmospheric pressure at a high land smaller and to make the decreased floating quantity over the entire surface of a magnetic disk approximately constant after making the floating profile on a flat land approximately uniform with a magnetic head slider having an air inflow end, a floating surface and an air outflow end. SOLUTION: The magnetic head slider 1 is constituted by forming a negative pressure slider formed with the floating surface 3 from a front step bearing 5 which is formed continuously of the air inflow end 2 and has a depth of submicrons, a rail surface 6 which is continuously formed from the front step bearing, negative pressure grooves 11 which are formed continuously from the rail surface and are deeper than the front step bearing and side step bearings 7 and 8 which are formed continuously from the rail surface and have the same depth as the depth of the front step bearing. In addition, the ratio of the depth R of the negative pressure grooves 11 and the depthδs of the front step bearing 5 is specified to R/δs>; 5.
