PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of giving an absolute minimum heating value to paper and realizing the lowering of power consumption at the time of fixing and improving the image quality and energy saving. SOLUTION: This fixing device is provided with a fixing roller equipped with a heat source inside and fixing an unfixed image transferred to the paper by an image forming device, a pressure roller arranged to be opposed to the fixing roller, a pressure means whose pressuring force exerted between the fixing roller and the pressure roller can be varied, and a fixing temperature detection means detecting the temperature of the fixing roller. In the fixing device, reload control is performed by judging whether the temperature of the fixing roller attains reload temperature based on the detected temperature detected by the fixing temperature detection means. The reload control is the control to vary fixing reload temperature by switching the pressuring force in accordance with the size of the paper, the kind of the paper and the number of sheets of consecutively passing paper.
