PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-resistive element having a high sensitive overlaid structure without the increase of resistance between terminal electrodes due to the corrosion of a cap protecting film for protecting a magneto-resistive film. SOLUTION: The magneto-resistive element having the overlaid structure in which electrode terminal films are disposed so as to partially overlap the both end parts of the magneto-resistive film for converting a magnetic signal to an electric signal by utilizing the change of magnetic resistance comprises the magneto-resistive film, the cap protecting film for protecting the magneto- resistive film and a conductive conductor protecting film for protecting the cap protective film.
