<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM switch adapting with flexibility to a distribution of traffic and containing high response characteristics. SOLUTION: This ATM switch has switches having one or plural number M of input ports and plural number N of output ports connected respectively to output paths of plural number N, one or plural number M of input buffers having individually plural number N of virtual output queues responding respectively to those output paths. For all or part of transmitting units in retention in the queues, the ATM switch has a monitoring means obtaining length of retention time showing lapse time from the stored time. Furthermore, in one or plural number M of input buffers, the transmitting units are created in the input buffers providing in descending order sum of the length of retention time obtained by the monitoring means. The ATM switch also has a control means reading with higher priority and providing the transmitting units stored previously in the queues providing those length of retention time in descending order to those input ports responding to the switches.</p> |
