PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform efficiently load/unload operation based on a recording position of a file on a magnetic tape and to keep a real time characteristics reproduced data. SOLUTION: When recording operation is started (S1101). buffering is started for a buffer area E1 and data is recorded in a magnetic tape with a division unit. After that, a processing process is selected based on whether a device area #2 is made or not (S1102-S1104). For example, when the device area #2 is not made, the device area #2 is made when a recording position reaches a central part of a magnetic tape (S1106). And it is discriminated whether transfer of a file from a computer device is finished or not, when it is discriminated that transfer of a file is not finished, as same files are recorded by holding the device area #2 between them, joint data is recorded in a joint data area (S1107-S1108).
