SURFACE LIGHT SOURCE AS WELL AS DISPLAY DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source unit which is nearly uniform in the light quantity discharged from a light guide plate within its face and is high in the ratio of a light emitting surface area with respect to an external form and a display device and an electratus having same. SOLUTION: This surface light source unit has the light guide plate 44 having a planar shape and a light source section arranged along one end face of the light guide plate 22. The light source section has a fluorescent tube 50 of a straight tube type of a length nearly equal to the length of the end face 45 of the light guide plate 44 and chip packaging type light emitting diodes 54 of white light by a three primary color combination type arranged near the ends of the fluorescent tube 50. The light guide plate 44 has notched parts 48 partly notched near its end faces. The light emitting diodes 54 are arranged along the notched parts 48. The circumference of the fluorescent lamp 50 is nearly enveloped by a reflector 66 exclusive of the side of the light guide plate 44 and the reflector 66 reflects the light from the fluorescent tube 50 to the light guide plate 44. A light guide plate fixing plate 56 has a base surface section 57 and fixes the light guide plate 44 from the back side.
