PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform highly efficient recording/reproducing even when a mag netic path length is shortened, and a signal wavelength is short. SOLUTION: This magnetic head is provided with magnetic body parts 2a and 2b made of a pair of soft magnetic materials, in which main surfaces 3 face a recording medium, and a magnetic gap 4 provided between the pair of magnetic body parts 2a and 2b, in which a gap between the pair of magnetic body parts in a side opposite the main surface is wider than that in the main surface, and continuously changed from the main surface side to the side opposite the main surface. The magnetic gap is formed in a manner that when the center of the magnetic gap in the main surface is an original point, an axis extended from the original point in the track longitudinal direction of the recording medium is an X axis, an axis extended from the original point in the width direction of the track is a Z axis, an axis passed through the original point, vertical to the X and Z axes, and extended from the main surface to a side opposite the main surface is a Y axis, and G1 and TH are set to specified values, then the relations of x=G1/2 at o<=y<=TH, and 0.1.tan 2(x-G 1/2))+TH<=y<=5.tan 2(x-G1/2))+TH are satisfied. |
