PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode display device capable of preventing brightness from varying with the ambient temperature. SOLUTION: The cold cathode display device in accordance with this invention comprises a 1st substrate having a cathode electrode layer and a resistance layer on the surface, a cold cathode formed on the resistance layer and a gate electrode to which a voltage is supplied for forming an electric field around the cold cathode, an anode to which a voltage is applied for accelerating electrons discharged from the cold cathode, a 2nd substrate on which a phosphor is formed on which the electrons accelerated by the voltage applied to the anode electrode is made incident, and a temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of the resistance layer, and an amount of the electrons discharged from the cold cathode is controlled based on the value detected by the temperature detecting means.
