PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable obstacle detection device for a vehicle. SOLUTION: A position detection part 12 obtains the position information of an obstacle on the basis of outputs from ultrasonic sensors 4FL, 4FR, 4RL, 4RR arranged close to four corners of a vehicle 1 and stores the obtained information in a storage part. A contact prediction part 15 is provided with a 1st judgment means for judging the existence of contact probability between the vehicle 1 and the obstacle on the basis of the current detection position of the obstacle detected by the detection part 12 and the progress locus of the vehicle 1 predicted by a progress locus prediction part 14 and a 2nd judgment means for judging the existence of contact probability between the vehicle 1 and the obstacle on the basis of the history of detection results detected by the detection part 12 up to the current time.
