PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC element for image pickup device with high versatility, capable of coping with various request specifications as needed without uselessly increasing the costs of the IC chip of a single body. SOLUTION: A timing generator IC for driving a CCD is provided with at least a pulse generator 202 for generating vertical transfer path drive timing signals for driving the vertical transfer path of the CCD, built-in ternary buffers (B1-B6) for driving the vertical transfer path drive terminal of the CCD on the basis of the timing signals, drive output terminals (V1-V6) for outputting the drive output of the built-in ternary buffers (B1-B6) and drive timing signal output terminals (V7-V11) for outputting the vertical transfer path drive timing signals generated by the pulse generator 202.
