PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system with a server and a method, which manages and retrieves easily multimedia data such as a photography taken with a digital camera. SOLUTION: The system manages the multimedia data by associating the data with two pieces of information of a time and a location, uses a database that stores events associated with the time and location information, requests an search space of the time and the location for a targeted retrieval subject specified by an event name or a combination of the names, and retrieves the multimedia data accompanied with the time and the location data that are found within the search space.
