PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver that can surely eliminated transmission channel distortion by calculating a response of the transmission channel not susceptible to the effect of a noise of the receiver itself. SOLUTION: A transmission channel response calculation section 13 calculates 1st to n-th transmission channel responses to store them to a storage section 14. A correlation calculation section 15 obtains correlation values of the 2nd to the n-th transmission channel responses with respect to the 1st transmission channel response and provides an output of the results to a transmission channel response synthesis section 17. The transmission channel response synthesis section 17 synthesizes the 1st to n-th transmission channel responses by adding a weight corresponding to each correlation value to it to obtain a synthesized transmission channel response. The synthesized transmission channel response has less effect of noise. A distortion compensation section 18 uses the synthesized transmission channel response to eliminate the distortion in the received signal.
