PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder-type linear synchronous motor capable of avoiding magnetic saturation and also reducing cogging as well. SOLUTION: A stator-core unit 135 is constituted by way of combining a plurality of stator-core splits 136a to 316j. A stator-core split 136b is formed of a ring-shaped yoke-configuring section 136b1 and a pole section 136b2. The pole section 136b2 is formed of a ring-shaped pole-surface forming section 136b7 having a pole surface 136b6 and a ring-shaped connecting section 136b8 that connects the pole surface forming section 136b7 and the yoke section 136b1. The thickness of the connecting section 136b8 is sequentially thinned from the pole surface forming section 136b7 towards the yoke-constituting section 136b1 so as to make the cross section of a magnetic-path to be almost uniform. The thickness of the pole-surface forming section 136b7 is set thicker than the thickness of the inside edge of the radial direction of the connecting section 136b8 so that cogging is reduced.
