PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of manual input miss during alteration work or design retracing due to duplication of predetermined functional names when LSI design is conducted using externally procured or existing functional blocks, and to prevent the reduction of design efficiency. SOLUTION: Functional names included in functional description data of every functional block for use are extracted, whether or not, between the functional blocks, duplicated names among the extracted names are present is determined. If determined that duplicated names are present, duplication information 3a indicating information about the duplicated names is outputted, a correction information 4a indicating an alteration content of the names based on the duplication information 3a is generated, and the names are altered based on the correction information 4a. Thereby, functional blocks whose functional names are not duplicated are obtained, and a manual input miss during the alteration work and the design retracing due to the duplication mentioned above can be prevented.
