CIRCUIT AND METHOD FOR OPERATING CRC CODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize miniaturization of a CRC code arithmetic circuit for operating a CRC code from byte parallel data which are variable length data and to reduce manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: In this CRC code arithmetic circuit 10 for operating a CRC code from 4-byte parallel data having a residual part at the last stage, a 4-byte parallel CRC code arithmetic circuit 2 operates in parallel the CRC code from 4-byte parallel data other than the last stage. A byte serial conversion circuit 3 converts the data of the last stage into serial data. A 1-byte serial conversion circuit 4 operates the CRC code in serial manner from the serial data converted by the circuit 3 by taking the operation results of the circuit 2 as an initial value.
