DISC DEVICE AND SPINDLE MOTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a disc of a disc device, which uses a spindle motor with a slide bearing, from contamination which is caused by leakage of lubricating oil from a bearing unit and makes recording/reproducing impossible. SOLUTION: A ring element whose diameter is larger than an inner diameter of a bearing is formed on a rotary shaft side of a hub on which a magnetic disc is mounted. The ring element is extended into a bearing unit and, further, a space is formed between a liquid surface of lubricating oil (magnetic fluid) and the end surface of the ring element extended into the bearing unit. With this constitution, the leakage of the lubricating oil which is caused by an impact can be avoided.
