PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device permitting to reduce power consumption further. SOLUTION: This is a liquid crystal display device wherein a liquid crystal with memories is matrix-driven by applying voltages thereto from plural scanning electrodes and plural data electrodes opposing and intersecting each other. In the normal drive mode 1, the display is sequentially and consecutively updated like a 1st frame, a 2nd frame,... at a prescribed 1st frame cycle. In the drive mode of power saving 1-1, a line selection cycle is set longer and the cycle for updating each frame is made to a 2nd frame cycle which is 1.5 times as long as the 1st frame cycle. Further, in the drive mode of power saving 1-2, a drive halting cycle is inserted in each end of frame updating, and a frame cycle is lengthened as a result.
