PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device in which driving circuits are simple and whose power consumption is small when the continuous display of an image is performed and, moreover, which is suited also for the image recording means of a handwritten input or the like. SOLUTION: The image display part 24 of this display device is constituted of a housing 7 in which many hole shaped display cells 12 are formed by being lined up, upper and lower transparent electrodes 2 which are arranged above and below the housing 7, a gate electrode 6 separating electromagnetically respective display cells 12 into two or more areas, charged particles 4 dispersingly incorporated in electric insulating media 5 and the part 24 is provided with a power source 10 for applying prescribed voltages among the upper and lower transparent electrodes 2 and the gate electrode 6 of the display part 24, an image recording means for recording an image in the part 24, an image holding means for holding the image and an image erasing means for erasing the image.
