PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information management device and a method by which, within plurality of information stored in a continuous region in an information storage means, plurality of information stored in discontinuous regions are retrieved and stored. SOLUTION: A user inputs a retrieval condition for image data with an input means. When the retrieval condition is inputted, the retrieval, from a hard disk 134, of the image data that matches with the inputted condition is started. Based on an additional code of the image data, whether or not the image data of the current object matches with the inputted retrieval condition is determined. In the case that the matching with the retrieval condition is determined to be affirmative, the image data read out at first is stored in a retrieval memory 120. This processing is repeated until the whole image data in the hard disk 134 is processed.
