PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information signal recording and/or reproducing device which records and/or reproduces (n) (n is an integer not less than 2) information signals of video information of motion pictures, etc., and sound information of pieces of music, etc., to and from an optical or magnetic information signal recording medium, etc., on a time-division basis through (n) buffer memories. SOLUTION: To absorb the difference between the transfer rate of (n) information signals by one pickup head 14 to the information recording medium 13 and the transfer rate of the (n) information signals in buffer memories 19, the (n) time-division information signals are transferred on the time-division basis to the one pickup head between the information signal recording medium and buffer so thatΣYn>=Rp×ΣRn×ΣSn/(Rp-Σn) holds, where Rp is the transfer rate of the (n) information signals by the one pickup head,Σn the sum of the transfer rates of the (n) information signals,ΣYn the sum of the capacity values of the (n) information signals, andΣSn the sum of seek times required for the head to move from a current area to a next area on the information signal recording medium.
