PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translation system, which can automatically prepare a translation dictionary within an optimal range on the server computer side corresponding to the storage capacity of a storage device on the terminal computer side and can transmit that prepared translation dictionary through a network to the terminal computer even when the translation dictionary required for translation is not packaged on the terminal computer side at all the time. SOLUTION: Storage capacity M usable for the translation dictionary of the terminal computer connected through the network to the server computer, which is provided with a storage device for storing a translation program and a master dictionary, is found. This capacity M is compared with capacity X of a minimum individual dictionary prepared from the master dictionary. Within the range, in which the capacity M has a spare capacity, in the minimum individual dictionary, downloaded information is successively added and an individual dictionary for terminal computer is prepared. Further, the prepared individual dictionary is stored in the storage device of the terminal computer and the storage device of the server computer. |
