PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control method of a video display system and the system in which control is conducted so that the display forms of plural video display devices are always matched with each other. SOLUTION: The display control method is for a video display system which consists of plural video display devices 11 to 13 that display video signals Sv to be supplied as video. The specific device 11 among the devices 11 to 13 discriminates video characteristics Pv1 to Pv5 of the signals Sv and outputs identification signals IDa to IDd corresponding to the discriminated video characteristics (Pa1 to Pa5) to (Pd1 to Pd5) and displays the signals Sv in accordance with display characteristics (Qa1 to Qa3) to (Qc1 to Qc3) stored corresponding to the signals IDa to IDd. The devices 12 and 13 other than the specific device 11 display the signals Sv in accordance with the characteristics (Qa1 to Qa3) to (Qc1 to Qc3) stored corresponding to the signals Ida to IDd.
