Graphite particles consists of lumpy particles produced from flock-like or streaky natural graphite particles and having a density before shaking of 0.25 g/cm<3> or more and a density after shaking of 0.55 g/cm<3> or more. The lumpy particles are coated with 0.01-10 weight % of surface-active materials selected from a starch derivative of basic structure C6H10O5, viscous polysaccharides of basic structure C6H10O5, water-soluble cellulose derivatives of basic structure C6H10O5, polyuronides and water-soluble artificial resins. Preferred Features: The graphite particles contain 50-30 000 ppm lithium, calcium, magnesium, sodium or potassium.
