TREATMENT OF TEXTILE PRODUCT FOR IMPARTING WATER AND OIL REPELLENCY

A process for producing a treated textile product which comprises (1) the step of preparing a treating fluid containing a water-and-oil repellant, (2) the step of adjusting the pH of the treating fluid to 7 or lower, preferably 3 or lower, (3) the step of applying the resultant treating fluid to a textile product, (4) the step of treating the textile product with steam, and (5) the step of washing the textile product with water and dehydrating it, wherein the water-and-oil repellant is an emulsion containing one or more fluorine compounds and an emulsifying agent, the fluorine compounds comprise a fluoropolymer and/or a low-molecular fluorine compound, and the emulsifying agent is an anionic surfactant having a pKa of 2 or higher. By the process, a textile product is obtained which has such durability that sufficient water and oil repellency and sufficient unsusceptibility to fouling are maintained before and after cleaning.
