The invention relates to a plastic container (1) comprising a locking lid (2) and a locking element (6) positioned in the upper edge area of the container for fixing the lid in a locking manner, said lid having a peripheral sealing rib (20) that extends downwards and rests against the inside of the container and being provided with at least one projecting element that lies radially inside the sealing rib, extending substantially in a radial and vertical direction. The aim of the invention is to produce a plastic container comprising a locking lid, which fulfils particular requirements of impermeability, whilst retaining a high load-bearing capacity. To achieve this, the vertical extent of the respective areas (24, 46) of the projection (25a, 29) which adjoin the sealing rib (20) is short in relation to the total vertical extent of a wall area (25) that lies radially inside and adjoins the projection. The projection (25a, 29) which faces inwards can be situated on a continuous interior rim (23) that is moulded onto the sealing rib (20). In addition to the sealing rib (20), a further peripheral seal (11) is provided in the vicinity of the upper edge of the container (4).
