The invention relates to a method for transmitting data in a vehicle and to a driver information device. An outputting unit is connected to calculating devices by means of a data bus. Outputting can thus be carried out in the outputting unit in a central manner for all calculating devices that are connected to the data bus. Only one outputting unit is thus required for several calculating devices and calculating devices of different producers can thus be connected to an outputting unit when there is a mutual data bus protocol.
