The extra insulation (12) for a double glazing (10) installation, with a number of glass panes (14), has at least one mounting zone (22) for an adhesive bond at the end side of a pane. At least one insulation zone (28), of a foam strip with a thermal conductivity of <= 0.06 W/mK or an elastomer tube, extends from the double glazing to the air space at the end of the panes. The insulation can also be of a material with low emission.
