GAS GENERATOR

A gas generator (s) comprising a long-sized outer cylindrical member (2) opened at both ends, cover members (3, 4) for closing the open sides (5, 6) of the outer cylindrical member (2), these members constituting a housing (1). The outer cylindrical member (2) has a gas generating agent (13) filled therein and a filter member (9) disposed therein. The cover member (4) has an ignition means (34) mounted thereon for igniting and burning the gas generating agent (13). Further, each cover member (3, 4) is formed with an annular groove (16) which opens around the inner periphery of the outer cylindrical member (2), and an elastic ring (17) is fitted in the annular groove (16). And each open side (5, 6) of the outer cylindrical member (2) is projected into the annular groove (16) to form an annular projection (18), which is fitted in the annular groove (16) by tracing the taper shape (16a, 16b) thereof while elastically pressing the elastic ring (17) against annular groove (16).
