<p>A method for distributing an electronic stamp through the Internet, the electronic stamp having a customized image selected by a user and a bar code including delivery related information and an authentication key, and a method for automatically classifying mailpieces using the electronic stamp are provided. The electronic stamp distribution method includes: providing an image selection interface to the user if the user is verified as a registered user, to allow the user to select an image for the electronic stamp; receiving information on name of an addressor, name of an adressee, and their addresses and zip codes from the user; receiving information on the type of the electronic stamp with which a postal charge is determined based upon the type of mailpiece and information on the type of payment for the electronic stamp from the user; settling the amount of money for the electronic stamp in connection with a predetermined settlement agency in response to a user request for distribution of the electronic stamp, and receiving the authentication key from an authentication key issueing agency; encrypting information input by the user including the delivery related information and the authentication key, and transforming the encrypted result into a bar code; and creating the electronic stamp by merging the image selected by the user and the bar code and providing the electronic stamp to the user through a graphics interface.</p> |
