Mixed catalyst (I) comprises di(oxovanadium) phosphate and specified metal and is produced by: (a) reacting oxovanadium di(dihydrogen phosphate) with a metal (hydr)oxide or a metal di( dihydrogen phosphate) and vanadium dioxide under specified hydrothermal conditions; and (b) calcination at 380-700 [deg]C. Mixed catalyst of oxovanadiumdiphosphate and other components is of formula (I) and is produced by: (a) reacting oxovanadium di(dihydrogen phosphate) of formula (II) with a metal oxide, hydroxide and/or oxide-hydroxide or a mixture of metal di(dihydrogen phosphate) of formula (III) and vanadium dioxide under hydrothermal conditions in a closed system for 0.5-100 hours at 1.05-6 bar and 100-150[deg]C, using 0.5-40 mole-% water and a metal oxide/(II) molar ratio of 0.9:1 to 1.1:2, to give oxovanadium hydrogen phosphate hemihydrate of formula (IV) and a metal phosphate product; and (b) converting the mixture to (I) by calcination at 380-700 [deg]C. (VO)2P2O7.A (I) VO(H2PO4)2 (II) Me(H2PO4)2 (III) VOHPO4.0.5H2O (IV) A : Mex(PO4)y or Me2P2O7; x : 1-3; y : 1, 2 and 4; Me : a metal selected from iron, lanthanum, lanthanides, antimony, aluminum, bismuth, zirconium, zinc, manganese, copper, tin and titanium.
