The invention relates to a mapping method, whereby colour values of the colour image to be mapped, represented in the RGB colour space are mapped in the highlight-colour colour space, corresponding to a projection of the colour values in highlight-colour. The corresponding calculations are carried out in the RGB colour space. A transformation into another colour space is not necessary. Furthermore, various corrections are provided, such that a highlight colour image is created which is as natural as possible for the human eye.
