A stereoscopic imaging system and method involves transmission of the left a nd right eye portions of the stereoscopic image as separate images, the separat e images being interlaced following display and polarization. The images may conveniently be interlaced or combined using a microprism sheet, the left an d right eye portions of the interlaced image being distinguishable by polarize d lenses in order to obtain a stereoscopic effect.
