The invention concerns a method for inserting in a stream, in particular MPEG, tables formed in section carried by a transport packets with common identifier. The invention is characterised in that either all the sections of a table are sent before the starting inserting into the stream another table carried by packets with common identifier as those of the first table carried, or the sections of different tables concerned are sent in any order. The latter possibility assumes that the identifiers of the tables are different, or still that other data, off payload, contained in the table are different.
