An antifungal composition comprises an extract of walnut hull in acetone, alcohol or butanol, pulverized roots of Nardostachys jatamansi, Vetiveria zizanioides or Catharanthus roseus, polyols, a fixed oil, a non-ionic emulsifier, a thickening agent plasticizer and a base. An antifungal composition comprises (wt.%) an extract (a) of walnut hull in acetone, alcohol or butanol (10 - 15), pulverized roots (b) of Nardostachys jatamansi, Vetiveria zizanioides or Catharanthus roseus (20 - 30), polyols (c) (5 - 10), a fixed oil (d) (5 - 10), a non-ionic emulsifier (e) (10 - 15), a thickening agent plasticizer (f) (15 - 20) and a base (g) (20 - 25). (a) has been partially fractionated. (c) is propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol or ethylene glycol. (d) is sesame oil, mustard oil or linseed oil. (e) is stearic acid, lanolin or vegetable wax. (f) is polyvinyl acetate, amyl acetate or food grade gelatin. (g) is nitrocellulose, kaolin or talc. An independent claim is also included for preparation of the composition involving: (i) washing the walnut hulls of Juglans regia with water, air drying and extracting the hulls at ambient temperature with acetone, butanol or alcohols; (ii) making (a) solvent free by any known method and partially fractionating (a) by chilling; (iii) washing the roots of Nardostachys jatamansi, Vetiveria zizanioides or Catharanthus roseus with water and air drying and powdering the roots to = 80 microns to get (b); (iv) heating (f) at a temperature of up to 80[deg]C; (v) adding (g) for filling by stirring; and (vi) adding (d) and (c) to the solution from step (v). - ACTIVITY : Antifungal. - MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
