The operational method involves running a transmission section at a frequency below the rated frequency of the transmission system. The frequency is held constant or is adjusted variably according to the reactive power transmitted. The transmission section is run at a frequency less than 20 Hz. At the beginning and at the end of a transmission section, a three phase frequency converter is installed. The transmission section is run with frequency converters controllable according to the operating situation. The transmission section is equipped with cables that are dimensioned for power transmission at rated frequency.
