Foaming and lateral water leakage during the filling of a container with a foam-prone water/chemical mixture is minimized by using, at the inlet (54, 51) of the venturi section (14) for drawing the chemical into the water, a resilient-sleeve (26) acts to furnishe air-free water to the venturi section (14). The sleeve (26) also provides a siphon-breaking air gap (42) if water is not flowing into the venturi section (14).
