[Also in Division B6] A filing cabinet for storing a large number of separate sets of sheets &c. comprises, as shown in plan in Fig. 2 with the top of the cabinet removed, an elongated open-fronted box-like structure divided into separate compartments 18 by spaced vertical partition members X, and in each compartment are two doors 4, 5 pivotal about vertical axes 7, 8, respectively, so that they can open outwardly in the direction of the arrows 2, 3, and two frames 13, 14 rotatable about vertical axes 15, 16, respectively. Each door and each frame has four shelves 28 on each side of a central vertical plate, and on each of the eight shelves on each door or frame there are three spring clip filing devices 31. Each device 31 comprises a vertical transparent pressure plate pivotally connected by links at each side to a rotatably mounted rod beneath the shelf 28, and the rod is urged by a spring so that the plate is pressed resiliently towards the vertical plate of the door or frame to hold a set of sheets. The doors 4, 5 are retained in the closed position by magnetic catches 12, and the frames 13, 14 are retained in the position shown by the engagement of spring-urged rollers 19 in depressions 21 in the frames. Each door, and each frame can be swung without fouling another door or frame. The doors and frames are of steel strip and sheeting, and the shelves are formed integrally therewith. |
