A number of color coats are applied to a background to be mechanically worked once dry and at some points worked into the background material. The colors are applied to the background once dry or when wet so they run into one another. The machining tool and its speed produce heat which in turn softens the paint and mixes the colors by the paint particles fixed to the tool. Tools can come in varying geometry and the picture is polished by color pastes. The picture can also be mechanically bulged and is covered in a colorless lac or varnish.
